‘Quake on the Lake’ Receives Major Boost From Sponsor and Boating Enthusiast Szott Chrysler Jeep

PONTIAC, Mich., July 15 /PRNewswire/ — The 9th Annual Quake on the Lake to benefit the Rainbow Connection returns to shake up summertime fun with a big boost from sponsor, neighbor and boating enthusiast Tom Szott of Szott M-59 Chrysler Jeep in White Lake Township.
This year’s Inboard Hydroplane races will be held on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th at the Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area in White Lake/Waterford Townships. Eighty of the nation’s top drivers in the sport will make massive waves, tons of noise and lots of fun on the Pontiac Lake on one of the fastest one-mile racecourses in the nation.
This year’s action has been expanded with the addition of the 10th Annual Malibu Open, the premier international water ski and wakeboard competition that attracts nearly 90 world-class athletes from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. The Malibu Open is returning to the U.S. at the Quake on the Lake after two years of competition in France.
“My family, our store employees and I all love boating,” Szott said. “This event takes family fun and boating to the extreme in a great recreational setting, and it supports a terrific organization.”
All proceeds from the event benefit the Rainbow Connection, a local non- profit charity which grants wishes to children with terminal or life threatening illnesses.
The race event has attracted record crowds of nearly 175,000 since 2000. In the last six years alone, 13 American Power Boat Association (APBA) records have been established on the challenging one-mile course in five different racing classes.
Festivities include vehicle displays along with the Flaming Pistons Classic Car Club showcasing classic vehicles of every make and model. Current Chrysler vehicles will be featured.
The T&C Federal Credit Union Family fun Zone also features great attractions for kids of all ages including Moonwalks, a rock-climbing wall, face painting and much more.
Sponsor and neighbor, Szott M-59 Chrysler Jeep, sits in the back yard of the race site at Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area.
“Oakland County has super summer festivities for the entire family, Quake on the Lake is the complete package for fun in the sun,” added Szott.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children five years and younger are free.
